“Orientation for a Mission Trip” Matthew 10:16-39 (AF) This text reminds us that faithful Christian discipleship can be painful and dangerous. When Jesus prepares the twelve for their mission trip among the Jews in Israel, he’s honest with them. Not everyone will warmly welcome them, or their message. In fact, they should fully expect hatred and persecution. However, they have no need to worry or be afraid about any of this. Whatever happens, God’s Spirit is still in charge. If they lose their lives for his sake, they have really found life. Are we ready to go on this trip of discipleship and stay on it?

“True or False?” Jeremiah 28:5-17 (AF) Broadcast Sunday This text reveals the interaction between the prophet Jeremiah and Hananiah, a prophet who spoke about peace and restoration that would come soon to Israel. Hananiah’s words were popular because that’s exactly what the people wanted to hear. But Hananiah did not really speak for God. He was a false prophet who would pay the ultimate price for his messages. Often we don’t really want to hear the truth about the consequences of our sin and unfaithfulness. Our rebellion extends our bondage, just as Israel’s rebellion extended hers!

“Communion Restored” Romans 8:12-25 (AF) -Bread and Cup Communion- The scripture passage from Romans reminds us of the wonderful gifts from God offers those who believe. Best of all is the promise of no condemnation, because Jesus died for us, was raised to life for us, and pleads for us at God’s right hand. Because of that restored relationship with God through Jesus Christ, God’s love overflows, giving us hope and victory.
